Summary
Qoherent seeks a Project Manager to manage project tracking, documentation, and reporting across 4-6 concurrent projects plus our software product. The successful candidate will report directly to the CEO and serve as the central point of visibility for all initiatives, ensuring tasks are assigned and tracked, progress is monitored, risks are identified and escalated, and deliverables meet contractual obligations.
This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring 2-3 days on-site per week, combining remote flexibility with in-person collaboration in downtown Toronto. Responsibilities
- Manage project documentation, timelines, and task tracking across all active initiatives
- Coordinate task assignment, track completion, and monitor effort levels across the engineering team
- Oversee project reporting for government contracts (ESA, DND, CSA) using contractual templates and guidelines
- Develop and maintain reporting standards for internal and non-government projects
- Prepare monthly reports, milestone reviews, and risk assessments
- Proactively identify and escalate blockers, risks, and dependencies
- Maintain current project status and serve as the central hub for project visibility
- Contribute technically to projects as appropriate to build credibility and understand constraints
- Build and iterate on project management processes as the company scales
Qualifications
Required
- At least one formal project management course or equivalent professional experience managing projects in a previous role
- Technical background with undergraduate-level fundamentals in computer engineering or computer science
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with project management tools and documentation systems
- Ability to learn domain-specific knowledge quickly (radio, spectrum, ML)
- Ability to establish structure and processes in early-stage startup environment
Desired
- Experience with government contracts or regulated reporting requirements
- Familiarity with software development workflows and agile methodologies
- Experience with ESA, DND, or CSA style project management
- Background in electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical field
- Experience managing distributed or hybrid teams
Key Attributes
The ideal candidate will bring strong operational discipline and an ability to maintain clarity across multiple concurrent initiatives. The Project Manager must identify risks before they escalate, maintain technical credibility with the engineering team, and develop sufficient knowledge of RF, spectrum, and ML concepts to understand project constraints and ask informed technical questions. The Project Manager should be comfortable building and refining processes as the organization scales.
